Plan models

Accounting software organizes analytic plans in 2 ways:
  • Fixed plans: a fixed number of plans with predefined meanings.
  • Dynamic plans: the end-user creates and manages plans freely.
The API supports both models seamlessly.

Single plan mode

Only one plan is used. It is configured in the connector’s platform settings.
  • You do not specify the plan in the API.
  • Each line has one analytic account, in analytic_account. No distribution or percentage is possible.
  • Use the endpoints without “(Multiple Analytic Plans)” in their name.

Multiple plans mode

Several plans are used (e.g. Project, Department, Region).
  • For each line, define the plans and their analytic accounts in analytic_distribution.
  • Each analytic account has a percentage of the untaxed amount of the line. Percentages are whole numbers. In each plan, they must total 100.
  • Use the endpoints with “(Multiple Analytic Plans)” in their name.
  • Get the plan identifiers with Get analytic plans and the analytic account identifiers with Get analytic accounts (multiple analytic plans).
The mode depends on the connector setup.

Where analytic accounts apply

Analytic accounts apply to the lines of invoices and journal entries. Financial entries have no analytic accounts.

Example: purchase invoice with 2 plans

A supplier invoice has one line of 1,000 (untaxed) on the general ledger account 610000. The cost is split across 2 plans:
  • Project: 70% to project_alpha, 30% to project_beta
  • Department: 40% to sales, 35% to marketing, 25% to engineering
